Zorro: Season 2 - Walt Disney Treasures

Zorro, along with his trusty steed Tornado, continued to fight evil in the legendary classic second season of Walt Disney's. The final 39 episodes saw more children dressing up as Zorro and making the sign of the Z. The second season aired from October 9, 1958, through July 2, 1959, and is presented here -- newly restored and remastered in its original black-and-white format. This six-disc set includes two rarely seen one-hour specials shown on Walt Disney's anthology series WALT DISNEY PRESENTS -- ZORRO: THE POSTPONED WEDDING and ZORRO: AULD AQUAINTANCE.

Guy Williams, who became an overnight star in the role he was born to play, is featured in a profile, as well as his stunt double, Buddy Van Horn. With exclusive introductions by film historian Leonard Maltin, this is a timeless collection from generations past for generations to come. Also included in the set is "A Trip to the Archives," featuring Disney historian Leonard Maltin and Guy Williams Jr. perusing a treasure trove of licensed Zorro merchandise.

Annette Funicello, America's teen sweetheart, guest stars in one of the season's story arcs as a present for her 16th birthday. The season also features character actors beloved by vintage-TV buffs, including Lee Van Cleef, Tige Andrews, Robert Vaughn, Richard Deacon, and Ricardo Montalban. Season 2 produced a new opening composed of scenes for that week's episode and added more, shorter story arcs. Zorro was even given a love interest, but the focus remains on adventure with spectacular fights and daring rescues.

This set contains two rare hour-long adventures never available on home video: "The Postponed Wedding" and "Auld Acquaintance." Zorro has aged well thanks to its historical setting in 1820s California and delivers "never-to-be-forgotten thrills." --Donald Liebenson.
